About Akshay
Product Design. UX. Cognitive Psychology.
MY BACKGROUND
My design education includes a Master’s degree in User Experience & Research Design from the University of Michigan, where I developed strong skills in Figma, creating design systems, and interface design. Prior to this, I received a Bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology with a focus in Psychology, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding the user behavior design builds off of.
My design preferences are to tailor a detail-oriented approach for each project that builds off of comprehensive research practices. I'm thrilled at the opportunity to come in at the start of a project where there is opportunity to do work like making a user flow diagram, conducting an audit of other clean designs in the space, or building out a design system.
MY EXPERIENCE
After graduating from the University of Michigan, I began my career with freelance work, reaching out to small businesses to explain the value my expertise could bring to their businesses. These projects included redesigning the UI design and typography for a sporting event survey application and developing brand guidelines for a consulting firm operating in the technology and agriculture sectors.
I got my official start in my UX Design career working for Pacific Digital Marketing, acting as one of the UX leads on several client-facing projects. Majority of work was the redesign and creation of key pillar pages on their websites. Outside of the usual wireframing process I began implementing UX research methodologies, such as user flow diagramming and affinity walls, into client-provided services where possible.
Now looking for my next role ideally in product design so I can have more influence in the foundational, creative process and build a memorable user experience from the ground up.
