Hey, I'm Akshay!

Product Design. UX. Cognitive Psychology.

MY BACKGROUND

I'm a recent graduate from University of Michigan's UX Research/Design graduate school program. Prior to this I was working as a recruiter, until I wanted to pursue a career which would allow me to be more creative in my day-to-day.

Deciding it was time for a change, I moved across the country from Boston to Portland, began taking  courses online while still working part time as a recruiter, and after completing my Master's Degree am now fully dedicated to a career in Product/UX Design!

MY EXPERIENCE

My time at University of Michigan was filled with challenging but really rewarding learning opportunities. While there I had the chance to complete usability studies for a small business, conduct user research for academic departments, and have built experience with software like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, Figma, and Affinity Designer.

Since graduating I've been making an active effort to improve my graphic design and typography knowledge by reading publications such as It's Nice That, Eye on Design, and Type-01. I've been leveraging this and my UX experience to begin to approach small businesses for freelance opportunities while I continue to interview for in-house designer and design agency roles.
